Question

wat is meant by negative fields of ligands?

Open in App
Solution

We know that ligands can either be neutral or negatively charged. A charged particle always exerts an electrical field. Thus, negative field is nothing but the electric field due to one or more negatively charged ligand(s) or the negative end of a dipolar molecule (like NH3 or H2O).
