Solution

The moon goes round the earth in 27.32 days. This time period is nearly constant.

The English calendar that we follow is actually the Julian calendar. In 45 bc, the Roman emperor Julius Caesar decided to introduce a new calendar, based purely on the solar year. This calendar fixed the normal year at 365 days long, with a leap year of 366 days once every four years. It also established the order of the months and the days of the week as they are in modern calendars. This calendar is known as the Julian calendar, after Julius Caesar.

This calendar had 28 days in the month of February for non-leap years and 29 days in leap year. And rest of the months have either 30 or 31 days.
