Solution

In steam, the molecules are very far apart from each other and there are large gaps between them, so steam is very less dense.Hence it is easy to move hands. On the other hand, as we go from gases to liquids, the molecules are closer to each other though there are gaps between the molecules. So one can move hands in liquids but with difficulty. However in wooden block which is a solid, the molecules are tightly packed and there are no gaps between them, so we cannot move our hand through it.
