Question

We have two glasses of water of same type.In first glass of water we add a ice cube and the ice cube floats in water but in second glass of water we add a ice cube by applying some force on ice cube to keep it under water. Which ice cube melts fast and why?

Ice cube in the second glass will melt faster because it presents more surface area to the water than cube in the first glass, Thus, the heat transfer occurs faster and ice melts easily.
