The forces of attraction between the covalent bonded molecules is not very strong but still carbon carbon bond is more stable.
Reason :
The concept behind is presence of more no. of electron and less electronegative atom.Since the carbon atom electronegativity is low it can easily share its electron to form covalent bond. Secondly, carbon atom has four electron so it can form more no. of covalent bond which make C-C bond formation favourable.
