Acetic acid is a colorless organic acid with a functional carboxyl group (-COOH) due to which it is considered as a type of carboxylic acid too.

It is a weak acid in nature and has a general formula of CH3COOH and its IUPAC name is ethanoic acid. It is found in various natural food products. For ex: It is a major product of vinegar and causes sour taste to the vinegar.
