what are bioddegradable and non - biodegradable detergents?

Open in App
Solution

Detergents are a class of chemicals who cause a cleaning action due to decrease in surface tension of the water.

Biodegradable compounds are the ones which are converted to smaller molecules when they are released into the nature by organisms, and are eventually converted to CO2 and water.

e.g: alkyl poly-glucosides

Whereas, non biodegradable compounds cannot be degraded by natural organisms.

e.g: washing soda
