Question

What are CAM plants?

Open in App
Solution

Plants of the dry and arid regions have their stomata open during night and close during day to prevent excess transpiration during day. There is no term to highlight this stomata but the plants exhibiting this are known as CAM plants. Some succulents (e.g., some cacti and agaves) avoid photorespiration temporally through the process of crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) .
