What are carbohydrates? How are they classified into different groups?
As the name suggests carbohydrates are large biological macromolecules which contains of carbon and water.
Carbo= carbon, hydrate=water( hydrogen and oxygen)
carbohydrates are of four types:
1 Monosaccharides: most simple form of sugars.
2:Disaccharides: When two monosaccharides are joines together they form di-saccharides.
3:Oligosaccharides: they conation small /few numbers of monosaccharides.
4:polysaccharide: they contain of long chain of monosaccharides attached together by glycosidic bonds.
