what are equilibrium state , equilibrium mixture and dynamic equilibrium ?
Equilibrium state is the condition where the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction, such that the concentrations of reactants and products in a chemical reaction taking place in a closed system no longer change with time.
Equilibrium mixture – The stable and unchanging mixture of reactants and products produced by any reversible reaction at equilibrium is called equilibrium mixture. The forward reaction produces products as fast as the reverse reaction converts them back to reactants, so the number of molecules of each substance in the reaction remains same.
Dynamic equilibrium – The equilibrium in a closed system at which the macroscopic properties are constant at given temperature, pressure and initial amounts of the substance whereas microscopic processes continue but these are in balance. In other words, although the forward and backward reactions are occurring but the rate of both the reactions is same and thus no change in the results is observed.Thererfore, a chemical equilibrium reached in a reversible reaction is dynamic.
