Fossil fuels are the hydrocarbon like petroleum, natural gases, coal, coke etc which are formed in the geological past from the dead bodies or remains of living organisms like animals plants insects etc. which were compressed under the earth and sea levels and get converted into fuels by the high pressure and other environmental changes.
They are called as Fossil fuels , because, the remains of dead plants or animals or other organisms found from geological eras are called as fossils.
