What are gamma particles? How are they useful?
Gamma rays(particles) are high energy (high frequency) electromagnetic radiation. They are produced by decay of high energy states in natural processes and man-made mechanisms. Gamma rays produce free radicals when they strike anything which contains electron.
Use of gamma rays in
(1) Medicine to kill and treat certain types of cancers and tumors.
(2)Industry to detect structural defects and irregularities in materials.
(3) food preservation
