Open in App
Solution

Hi,
Latitude is an imaginary line that runs around the earth, parallel to the equator.
For e.g. Equator is 00 latitude, North Pole is at 900 north latitude
Longitude is imaginary line running from North Pole to South Pole. The lines are farther apart at center and get closer and closer as they approach poles. It is measured from the Prime Meridian which runs through Greenwich in England.
E.g.: Greenwich line is considered 00

Functions of longitude and latitude are :
1.Latitude tell us the direction north and south from the Equator whereas longitude tells us the east and west direction from the prime meridian.
2.Latitude is used together with Longitude to specify the precise location of any feature on the Earth.
