Solution

The pili (plural) or pilus (singular) are hair-like appendages found in some bacteria. They serve as a bridge for the exchange of plasmid DNA between two bacteria. This process is known as conjugation. The pili involved in conjugation are known as sex pili.

Mesosomes: Mesosomes are the structures present in the bacteria. It is the infolding of plasma membrane. These are involved in functions like respiration, division etc.
