Reproductive hormones or sex hormones are steroids produced by reproductive system to regulate the process of reproduction. Reproductive hormones are classified into male reproductive hormones and female reproductive hormones. Major reproductive hormone in male is testosterone. Testosterone is required for sperm production and development of secondary sexual characters in males. Female reproductive hormones include estrogens and progesterone. Estrogens are required for the development of secondary sexual characters in females. Progesterone is required for the regulation of menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
