Solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more pure substances whose composition may be altered within certain limits.

The component of solution which is present in larger amount is called solvent while the one which is present in less amount is called solute

Following are the type of solutions:

1. Gas-gas solution: e.g Air

2. Gas-liquid solution: e.g. mist

3.Liquid-liquid solutions: e.g. mixture of alcohol and water

4. Liquid-gas solutions: e.g. Cold drinks, soda

5.Liquid-solid solutions:e.g salt water

6. solid-solid solution: e.g. alloy
