Question

What are the angle strains in alkane, aklene and alkyne?

Open in App
Solution

If the distance between two bond is small that is if angle between them is small than repulsion between them takes place which results in the angular strain. Anglular strain is due to the small bond angle.

Now in the alkanes bond angle is 90° .In alkenes it is 120° and in alkynes it is 180°.

In alkane bond angle is smallest so maximum angular strain takes place in alkanes.
