Dispersion of light:

When light ray is passed through a prism,it deviates while coming out of the prism by an angle.This angle depends upon the

refractive index of the medium. Since different colours in the white light have different speeds in the prism,so these colours have different refractive index.Thus each colour deviates by different angle.
