Question

what are the differences between electric field lines and magnetic fieldlines ?

Open in App
Solution

Electric field lines:

The straight or curved path in electric field is called electric field line if tangent to it at any point gives the direction of electric field intensity at that point.

Magnetic field lines:

Magnetic lines of force are imaginary in the sense it cannot be seen as a line around the magnet but lines of force are not non-physical in the sense their presence can be detected experimentally.

Magnetic lines of force are continuous lines that describe a magnetic field tangent to which is the direction of the field at that point.Magnetic field lines originate from the north pole and end at the south pole.
