Disadvantages of AC over DC:
1). Electric cables are resistant to DC as compared to AC. So low voltage is required to transmit DC than AC over the same distance.
2). Power loss during AC transmission is more than the DC transmission.
Storage devices such as batteries give DC current whereas power comes form power plants is a source of AC.
