what are the economic activities of men and women and why are they so different from each other as in india we say that women and men should be treated equally??

Economic activities are categorised as market and non-market activities.Women are said to be engaged in non market activities where there is no monetary benefits but self satisfaction whereas men are engaged in market activities which are associated with monetary benefits and profits.Indian society has been biased towards women since age old times.Hence, women were deprived of market activities and were allowed to remain confined within the four walls of the house.
But with due course of time women are allowed to be a part of market activities.They are now in all professional activities which have been dominated by men from the beginning.Even if women are a part of economic activities today,they are not free from discrimination and biasness because women's work is considered as less important and they are deprived of getting equal wages like men.Especially less educated women have to face discrimination due to low skills and talents compared to men.
