what are the main parts of male and female reproductive system? explain.
Male reproductive system:
The humane male reproductive system consists of testicles, the duct system comprising of epididymis and the vas deferens, the accessory glands which is composed of seminal vesicles and prostate gland and penis. The main function of the male reproduction system is to produce, maintain and discharge sperm into the female reproductive system. The main functioning of the male reproductive system is as follows:
1) Penis:
Penis is the main organ of male reproductive system which is responsible for ejaculating the semen from the male body into the
female body.
2) Scrotum:
Scrotum is a part hanging behind the penis which contains testicles. Its main function is to maintain the temperature required for maintaining the sperms.
3) Testicles:
Testicle is a oval shaped organ present inside the scrotum. The male reproductive system consists of two testicles, also known as testes which is responsible for secreting the male sex hormone and generating sperms.
4) Epidydimus:
Epidydimus is a tube coiled around the posterior surface of each testes whose main function is to nourish the sperms and maintaining them untill next ejaculation.
5) Vas deference:
Vas deference extends from epidydimus till the scrotum. It is also known as sperm duct.
6) Seminal vesicles and prostate gland:
They secrete a thick fluid which forms semen.
7) Urethra
It is responsible for the ejaculation of semen at the time of orgasm.
Female reproductive system:
The female reproductive system consists of parts outside as well as inside the female body. The outside parts (genitals) allow the entry of the sperms inside the female reproductive tract and the internal reproductive organs is responsible for the maintenance and the growth of the fetus. The important parts of the female reproductive tract are:
1)Vagina:
It allows the entry of sperms into the female reproductive tract.
2) Uterus:
It is the hollow, pear shaped organ where the growth of the fetus occurs. It is also known as the womb.
3) Ovaries:
They are the small, oval shaped glands which are located on both the sides of the uterus. They are responsible for the production of eggs and certain hormones.
4) Fallopian tubes:
It serves as the tubes which carry the eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. The process of fertilization (the process of fusion of an egg by a sperm which results in the formation of a zygote) occurs in the fallopian tube.
5) Clitoris:
Clitoris is a part which is covered by a fold of skin and is very sensitive to stimulations.
6) Bartholin’s glands:
They are located besides the vaginal opening and are responsible for the production of fluid named mucus
