Question

what are the mechanical properties of sound?

Open in App
Solution

Sound is called mechanical wave. It can only propagate when there is a material medium. It is produced by the vibration of objects. When objects vibrate, it collides with the molecules in the medium. This collision produces mechanical oscillations in the medium. Because of this, sound waves are known as mechanical waves.
