There are conserved sequence of nucleotides present in genome/gene which are inherited from parents and also particular alleles of genes inherited from parents which give information about heredity. Conserved sequences include SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism), VNTR (variable number tandem repeats) etc. which can be matched to trace heredity.
