what are the two main components of blood?why is blood considered a type of connective tissue?
The main components of blood are red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma (90% water).
Blood is considered a connective tissue for two reasons:
(1) It has the same origin (mesodermal) as do the other connective tissue types have.
(2) Blood connects the body parts together transporting oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other signaling molecules and removing the wastes.
