Two types of covalent bond are formed depending upon the electro negativity of the combining elements.

1. Non-polar covalent bond
2. Polar covalent bond

On the basis of number of shared electrons, they are of three types

1) Single covalent bond

It is formed by sharing of two electrons

2) Double covalent bond

It is formed by sharing of 4 electrons.

3) Triple covalent bond

It is formed by sharing of 6 electrons.
