It depends upon the situation whether the electron is released is in applied electric field or it has motion in magnetic field if the electron is moving in the electric field then a acceleration is produces and electric field applies a force on the electron , but if it is moving in magnetic field there is no change in speed of electron , there is only change in direction of motion of electron in terms of direction
