Archaeologists have made the following discoveries about hunter-gatherers.
1. Hunter-gatherers built a variety of tools like like fishing nets, hooks and bone harpoons to facilitate their hunting.
2. Apart from hunting and gathering, they also relied on scavenging; i.e. collecting meat from dead animals.
3. There was lot of violence in hunting-gathering societies. Archaeological evidence suggests that as much as 25 to 30% of adult males in these societies died due to murder.
4. These societies were highly egalitarian. The entire tribe divided up the food they hunted or gathered equally.
