Negative pressure means when the pressure inside the lungs i.e intrapulmonary pressure is less than the atmospheric pressure resulting in the intake of gases. When the pressure inside the lungs is positive means intrapulmonary pressure is more than atmospheric pressure, it result in the release of gases i.e expiration takes place.
