What do you mean by autocracy?

Autocracy is a form of government in which one person enjoys all the administrative powers. His decisions are binding over his subjects (people) and are not constrained by external legal procedures or through the mechanisms of popular control.

But he always has a threat of being overthrown by his subject’s mass rebellion. During the French Revolution, the people of France favoured liberalism and had stood for the end of autocracy and clerical privileges.
