Solution

Lethal genes can be defined as the genes whose expression results in the death of the individual. It is generally a mutated form of an essential gene, such that the gene function is inhibited. Therefore, expression of mutated form results in loss of an essential function of the cells. Hence, the individual dies due to the expression of the lethal gene.
