Question

what do you mean by nodes of ranvier and myeline sheath

Open in App
Solution

The myelinated nerve fibres are enveloped with Schwann cells, which form a myelin sheath around the axon. Myelin sheath provides insulation.

The gaps between two adjacent myelin sheaths are called nodes of Ranvier. This provides faster transmission of electrical impulses through axon.
