What do you mean by red litmus paper and blue litmus paper?
Litmus paper is a natural pH indicator.
Indicators are substances whose solutions change color due to changes in pH. These are called acid-base indicators. They are usually weak acids or bases, but their conjugate base or acid forms have different colors due to differences in their absorption spectra.
Litmus paper is used as a pH indicator to determine whether the solution is acidic or basic. Substances with a pH level of 7 are neutral. Ones with a pH level below 7 are acidic. Ones with a pH above 7 are basic.
Litmus paper will work on pH principle. Litmus paper will have a colour coding so if want to dip onto some solution, it would change the colour depending on the pH.
There are 2 type of Litmus paper, 1) Red litmus paper and 2) Blue litmus paper.
It is red litmus paper (they are usually weak acids) turns blue when dipped in base and blue litmus paper (they are usually weak bases) turns red when dipped in acids. Neutral solutions does not show any changes when we dip both red and blue litmus paper.
