History of the word ‘Dutch’:

2. All the 7 states formed a confederation and were autonomous with their own governments.

3. The Dutch Empire became one of the most powerful reign in the 17th century with its central power as Holland.

4.But later on Napoleon Bonaparte merged the Kingdom of Holland into the French Empire. Holland is present day Netherland.

Geographically it borders Belgium and Germany and is, therefore, also the official language of Pennsylvania Dutch (the descendants of German and Swiss immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania in the 17th and 18th centuries).
