During gastrulation stage of embryonic development, three primary germ layers are formed which are ectoderm (outer layer), mesoderm (middle layer) and endoderm (inner layer). All these layers give rise to different parts of body. Mesoderm is the middle layer which gives rise to connective tissues, lymphatic organs, muscles etc. Thus, it is said that muscle is a mesoderm origin.
