In the medieval times, many empires like the Cholas, Khijis, Tughlaqs and Moghuls were spread over a large area including within themselves many different regions. These empires that encompassed different regions under one large sovereignty are known as pan regional empires. These regions were largely impacted by the rule of such empires long after they disintegrated into smaller states. The impact can be found in all aspects like art, architecture, administration and culture.
