A GFC or grazing food chain begins with a producer and goes to a primary or secondary consumer. While a detritus food chain begins with decomposition. In an aquatic system the decomposition is very less, or if there it is carried away by water and dispersed, hence most important flow of energy is from the producers to consumers.
