Bioprospecting is the process of searching for potentially beneficial biological substances (plant or animal species) for use as a source of commercially exploitable products, such as medicinal drugs.

Protandry is the earlier appearance of males before females at sites of reproduction.

Advantage: Assurance of a reproductive partner.

• Any individual organism that possesses both male and female reproductive organs during their life span is termed as hermaphordites. Sequential hermaphrodites are capable of transforming from one sex to another. There are two types: protogynous and protandrous.
• If the organism is male first and changes to female, it is said to be protandrous.
• If an organism becomes female first and later changes to male, that organism is protogynous
