Solution

  • Naturalistic theory or Abiogenenic theory is the most accepted one.

  • According to this theory life originally arose from the inorganic molecules of the primitive earth (abiogenesis), but today’s earth life comes only from the pre - existing life (biogenesis).
  • Oparin and Haldane independently put up this theory. It is also known as chemical theory of origin of life.
  • Life originated from inanimate matter by a series of chemical reactions on the primitive earth. This was put forward by Alexander.I.Oparin. He explained as ‘abiogenesis first, nut biogenesis ever since’ .
  • J.B.S. Haldane suggested in 1929 that life must have arisen on the earth from a collection of chemicals through a progressive series of chemical reactions.
  • Atoms combined into inorganic molecules --> Simple organic compounds --> complex organic compounds --> aggregates --> living matter.
  • Major support to this theory was provided by Miller & Urey.
