Indian is a quasi-federal polity. The features of federalism in India are:

• Sharing of power between the central government and states
• Sharing of the areas of legislations among the Centre and states, i.e. Union List, State List and the Concurrent List
• Independence of Judiciary
• Separation of powers between the executive, legilature and the judiciary
• Well defined sources of revenue and taxation system.
