Question

what happen to the potential energy of a body if its mass is tripled

Open in App
Solution

The potential energy of a body of mass 'm' raised to a height 'h' from the ground is given by,

P.E = mgh

'g' is the acceleration due to gravity.

If the mass is tripled we can write,

P.E/ = 3mgh = 3(P.E)

Thus the P.E also triples when the mass is tripled.
