Question

what happen to the respiratory process in a man going up a hill?

Open in App
Solution

While going up a hill against the gravity, the energy demands of a body increases and so the consumption of oxygen also increases. At higher altitudes, the partial pressure of oxygen is already very low. To maintain the supply of oxygen for the metabolic needs of the body, the breathing rate increases while going up on the mountains. More RBCs are also produced for the same reason. This causes redness of cheeks.
