If the government in a state cannot be carried out according to the provisions of the Constitution, State emergency is declared. This State Emergency is called President's Rule and is decided upon the President of India depending upon the State Governor's report. President's rule is initially imposed for six months and can go on for maximum of three years with parliamentary approval every six months.
