Trophic level is defined as the level which an organism takes place in a food chain. There is a continuous flow of energy and nutrients from a lower trophic level to the successive one. During the flow of energy from one trophic level to the next, there is a 10% loss of energy. Thus, at the present trophic level, there would be 10% less energy that the previous trophic level.
