Question

What happens when a Non-Metal reacts with Metal Carbonate and Metalhydrogen Carbonate??

Open in App
Solution

Non-metal does not directly reacts with metal carbonates or metal bicarbonates but when non-metal forms acids it reacts with metal carbonates or metal hydrogen carbonates to give salt, water and CO2.
Ex: Na2CO3 + 2HCl --> 2NaCl + H2O + CO2

2NaHCO3 + H2SO4 --> Na2SO4 + 2H2O + 2CO2
