Question

what happens when

two force are exerted in same direction

two force are exerted indifferent direction

Open in App
Solution

When two forces acts in the same direction then the net equivalent force is given as the sum of these individual forces as,
Fnet=F1+F2

But, when two forces acts in the opposite direction then the net equivalent force is given as the difference of these individual forces as,
Fnet=F1+-F2Fnet=F1-F2
In second case negative sign with the force shows that the direction of force is opposite to the another one.
