Question

what happens when zinc granules are treated with dilute solution of h2so4,hcl,hno3,nacl and naOH,also write the chemical equations if reaction occurs?

Open in App
Solution

The reactions can be written as

  1. Zn + H2SO4 -------Ã ZnSO4( zinc sulphate ) + H2 ( hydrogen gas )
  2. Zn + 2HCl --------Ã ZnCl2( zinc chloride ) + H2(hydrogen gas )
  3. Zn + 2 HNO3 ------Ã Zn ( NO3)2 ( zinc nitrate ) + H2 ( hydrogen gas )
  4. Zn + NaOH ------Ã Na2ZnO2( sodium zincate ) + H2 ( hydrogen gas )
  5. Zn + NaCl ---------Ã reaction is not feasible at ordinary temperature
