Solution
Dear Student,
The diamond is a pure form of carbon but its abundance is very less and its mining is very difficult after that its cutting, finishing etc. also become costly and besides all these the gem and ornamental demands of diamond made its cost to very high like other metals gold silver etc.
The price depends on application and use and also on demand of any material and so it is costly. Poisoning of diamond is just a myth it is a carbon allotrope only and carbon is not poisonous however if it contains arsenic or other mercury with it as impurities then that may cause poisoning
However, people die by consuming diamonds because it is indigestible and insoluble in any solvent on the earth and it breaks the intestinal walls and could choke or block the body system which leads to death.
