1) Vedic literature consists of compilation of four Vedas which are considered as oldest books in the world.

2) The four Vedas are Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajurveda, and Atharva Veda. The oldest Veda is Rig Veda which is composed about 3500 years ago.

3) The Rig Veda includes more than 1000 hymns which are in praise of gods and goddesses. These hymns are composed by sages (rishis)

4) They were composed in old Vedic Sanskrit.
