Question

what is centripetal acceleration? mention the expression for it

Open in App
Solution

Centripital force is the force required to move a body uniformly in a circle. This force acts along the radius and towards the centre of the circle.
On account of continuous change in the direction of motion of the body, there is a change in velocity of the body, and hence it undergoes an acceleration, called centripetal or radial acceleration.
It is given by :- a = ω2r, where ω is the uniform angular velocity and r is the radius of circular path.
